Working Well Together

Well-established and respected initiative driven by a network of regional groups throughout Great Britain.

Group name: Working Well Together

Working Well Together (WWT) is an industry-led intervention programme, strongly supported by HSE and CONIAC, which has been running successfully for over twenty years. It is an important initiative for delivering key health and safety advice to SMEs, the self-employed and micro-businesses in the construction industry. This segment is known to be a hard-to–reach audience. It currently operates through a network of regional groups.

Aims and Objectives

The specific aims and objectives of WWT – as set out in the WWT constitution, are summarised below:

  • Improving the level of health and safety knowledge, particularly within construction sector SMEs and micro-businesses.
  • Encouraging co-operation in sharing knowledge of health and safety matters.
  • Promoting training and learning in health and safety.
  • Providing free or low-cost information and advice.
  • Running health and safety events

SMEs and small sites in construction remain priorities for HSE and targeted WWT activities will continue to support small businesses in achieving improved risk management and control.

Historically, HSE has provided overall strategic direction and focus through CONIAC, HSE’s Construction Division, and the bi-annual national WWT steering group (SG) meetings chaired by HSE’s WWT Manager. Regional group chairs, HSE Visiting Officers and WWT committee members attend SG meetings.

WWT relies on support from industry. New members are always welcome. If you would like to become involved with your local regional group, you will find contact details provided for each group on their home page.
