WWT South Wales

The South Wales WWT Group was formed in 2003. As a group, we have adopted a motto, 'from the industry to the industry'. Our meetings are Hybrid so delegates can choose to meet face to face or virtually whatever suits the individual. WWT South Wales wouldn’t happen without the commitment of the members who volunteer their time and provide, via annual subscriptions, the finances to hold events and support events within the industry.

Group name: WWT South Wales

Governance

  • Ceri Camilleri (Camilleri Construction Ltd) - Chair
  • Steve George (Wilmott Dixon) - Vice Chair
  • Andrew Collins (PCR Global) - Treasurer
  • Phil Wolfenden (Wates) - Secretary

Scope

There are currently a network of regional Groups operating across Wales, England and Scotland. The South Wales group HQ is in Cardiff.Working Well Together (WWT) was set up in 1998 by the Construction Industry Advisory Committee (CONIAC) which recognised the construction industry itself needed to do more to improve its health and safety performance – particularly among the smaller construction businesses.

WWT was set up as a joint industry/HSE initiative to help do this and this is reflected in our motto - ‘help from the industry for the industry’.

Current Projects

We are one of the most active groups in the country delivering a wide range of health and safety events each year, nearly all of which are free of charge. These are mainly focussed on the needs of small and medium contractors.

We go into Colleges to deliver SHADS to encourage new entrants into the industry at the start of their career.

We hold White van events and support small business with Health and Safety awareness.

We run one big event a yearn the past we have held mock trials, designer days; this year we are going Adjuda training and are supporting the largest Mental Health Awareness event in Wales on the 11th May 2023 at Cardiff City Hall.

We have sub committees to help drive projects forward, these include:

  • Collage Shads
  • White Van events
  • Social Media
  • Large events
